Richard L. "Dick" Fisher Obituary
Richard "Dick" L. Fisher, 81 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a long and full life.
He was born June 19, 1936, in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dick was raised in Elyria, Ohio, graduating from Elyria High School with the class of 1954. He had made his home in Amherst for over forty-five years.
Dick proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed as an office repairman for interior lines at Centurytel for forty-three years before retiring. Dick graduated from Moody Bible Institute with his Masters of Divinity. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham. Dick served as a Bible study leader and loved to mentor young Christians. He loved to share the gospel with those he met. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, baseball, basketball and raising his Beagles.
Among those who will cherish Dick's memory is his wife of sixty-one years, Susan Fisher (nee: Smith); his son Richard C. Fisher (Alice) of Vermilion; his daughters Becky Haller (Mark) of Elyria, Cheri Ciammaichella (Dan) of Baughman Township, Ohio; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; his brothers Barry Fisher (Pam) of Elyria, Lamar Fisher (Linda) of Avon; his sister Marsha Kobyliski (Joe) of Elyria and his dog, Audrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Reda Fisher (nee: Knarr).
A Celebration of life will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham; 5918 State Route 60 North, Wakeman, Ohio 44889. The Dr. Marvin Osborn, pastor, will officiate. Private family burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc.; PO Box 908, Bellmawr, NJ 08099.
