1936 - 2011 | Obituary Condolences
AVON LAKE - Robert Ackerman, 74, a long time resident of Avon Lake, Passed away in Bradenton, FL on Feb. 26, 2011 at Blake Medical Center after a brief illness.
Robert was born Sept. 21, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Mary (nee Foley) and Carl. He graduated from Avon High School, where he played on the football team. He later graduated from The Ohio State University.
In 1959 he married Judith Eibling. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Engelhard Chemical Co., in Elyria, and ran his own industrial supply company for several years, with his daughter, Lisa.
Bob enjoyed history, especially military history, as well as traveling in his RV, being near the water in Florida, and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife: Judith; daughter: Christina Evans, Son: Matthew (Holly), and Brother: Richard (Linda), son-in-law Ron; and grandchildren: Adam Evans, Ronny, Robby and Mary Cox, and Morgan, Sidney, and Hayden Ackerman.
In Addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter: Lisa Cox.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Local arrangements handled by Misencik Funeral Home, Avon. Memorial contributions may be made to "Love-A-Stray", PO Box 125, Avon Lake, OH 44012.
