LORAIN - Ron Matuzek, 58, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.
Ron was born in Lorain on October 21, 1955, to his loving parents, Albert and Ailene (nee Esser) Matuzek, and was a lifelong resident of Lorain. He graduated from Admiral King High School's Class of 1974.
Ron was a certified mechanic for several years and also worked in the automotive industry. He was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain, the NRA, and North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed playing darts, auto racing, fishing, camping, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Kurianowicz-Matuzek; daughter, Kim (Jerry) Matuzek-Kosco; mother, Ailene Matuzek; sister, Yolanda (Vaughn) Zajicek; grandson, Justin Kosco; stepdaughters, Tina Kurianowicz and Tracy Ames; niece, Jenifer; great-nephew, Korey; and godson, Damon.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Albert L. Matuzek; nephew, Vaughn K. Zajicek II; and grandparents.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440-244-1961), on Monday, March 3, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 9:20 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 309 W. 7th Street, Lorain, with Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor, officiating.
Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
