ELYRIA - Rudolph F. Weigl, 95, of Elyria, died peacefully February 19, 2012 at the home of his granddaughter Gaylene Weigl in Olmsted Township.

He was born March 31, 1916 in Lorain and attended Elyria High School, where he played football. Rudy was employed for forty-three years at Elyria Foundry, retiring as a supervisor in 1971. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed working around his home, golf, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Rudy is survived by a son Gary F. (Mieke) Weigl of Berea; grandchildren Kim and Gaylene Weigl, Beth Johnson, Bob and Todd Hazelton and Sheree Lee; 17 great grandchildren; brothers Frank (Dorothy) Weigl of Orange, CA and Albert (Dorothy) Weigl of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Ruth E. (nee Gerhart) in 1987; daughter Marlene Hazelton in 2002; sisters Ann Matasick and Goldie Stipanovich; brothers Joseph and William Weigl and parents Rudolph and Mary Weigl.
Friends will be received Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Reverend Robert Gross will officiate with burial in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
