Terence "Terry" Barley Obituary
AMHERST - Terence "Terry" Barley, 50 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at home unexpectedly following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 21, 1961 in Amherst, Ohio. Terry was raised in Birmingham but lived most of his life in Amherst. He was employed as a journeyman through Sheet Metal Worker Union Local #33 for many years. Terry enjoyed riding his motorcycle, especially his Harley. He was a devoted father who truly loved his three daughters. He enjoyed the companionship of his dog Rosco.
Survivors include his daughters Kristina Bowden and her husband Justin of North Ridgeville, Malissia Barley of Elyria, Katy Cumberledge and her husband Jacob of Vista, California; stepson and his wife Kenneth and Tanya Bailey of Berlin Heights; grandchildren Marley, Jocelyn, Alyssa, Robert, Cristie; and long time companion and best friend Brenda Sowders (nee: Bollin) of Amherst.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Suzanne Barley (nee: Bates); and brother Larry Barley in 2007.
Friends may call Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Baptist Church; 1100 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Steve Mayes, pastor, will officiate. Private committal service will be held at a later date at Birmingham Cemetery, Birmingham.
