William Browne Faris
Vermilion ––William Browne Faris, 87, of Vermilion, died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain after a lengthy illness.
William was born November 8, 1925 in Lorain. He had lived most of his life in Vermilion and wintered in North Port, Florida.
He graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1944A and attended the University of Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the European Theater during World War II where he received 3 bronze stars.
He worked as a combustion repairman for United States Steel, 4 Seamless for 37 years.
William was a member of AMVETS Post 22 and the American Legion Post #397. He was part of the Citizens Patrol, LaCasa Mobile Home Park, FL and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion. He enjoyed traveling, bicycle riding, hiking, nature, woodworking and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Faris of Vermilion; sons, William Bruce (Donna) Faris of Hayden, ID, Philip Edward Faris of Vermilion, and Chris Alan (Debbie) Faris of Elyria, daughter, Jill Ann (Jay) Boggess of Denver, CO and daughter-in-law, Sue Faris of Vermilion; grandchildren, Trevor Darby, Chris Faris, Jr., Theresa Tetrault, Jared Faris, Jessica Faris, and Joshua Mingus; several great grandchildren and a brother, John W. Faris of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Benjamin and Blanche (nee Browne) Faris, Sr. and a brother, R.B. Faris, Jr.
Private family services were held Friday, October 4, 2013. Interment with military honors will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain at a later date.
