Bill was born April 13, 1928 in Lorain, where he spent his life. After graduating from Lorain High School in 1946, Bill served in the U S Navy Air Corp as an aviation machinist's mate and played on the traveling basketball team.
In 1959, he founded William Knight Building & Remodeling. He was a respected home builder for over thirty years, building over two hundred custom built homes in Lorain and the surrounding area. He developed the Red Hill and Meadowbrook Farms subdivisions. His reputation as a builder and his integrity grew until his first retirement in 1987.
When Lorain Country Club was restructured, Bill became president of the Board of Directors. In 1987, he became manager of the facility. He instituted many programs as manager. After ten years, he retired due to health issues.
Bill was a charter member of Oak Hills Country Club and played golf for over fifty years. He was a student of golf and always maintained that it was not just a "game" but a good character builder as well. He scored fourteen verified hole-in-ones.
Bill was a horseman and enjoyed watching the horse races. He also enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. He was lifelong Detroit Tigers fan. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers as well as Ohio State teams.
Bill was a fifty year member of BPOE and a member of the Canadian Legion. He was a member of Lorain Rotary Club and Church of St. Peter.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Honey (nee Jachym) and three daughters Lynn Rebman (Bob Northeim), Joy Knight, and Mari Moos.
