William S. "Steve" Burdette, 86, of Elyria, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland.

He was born February 9, 1927 in Lavonia, GA and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He lived in Greenville, South Carolina before moving to Elyria in 1955.
Steve was employed in the plant protection department at General Industries in Elyria for 34 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Elyria and he enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
Steve is survived by a son Howard (Lisa) Wilmoth of Sandusky; grandson Daniel Wilmoth; granddaughter Christy Wilmoth; 2 great grandchildren; sisters Edna Laws of Lorain and Shelby Fern of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sara D. in 1992; parents Hubert and Annie Burdette; brothers Clyde, Bob and Ed Burdette and a sister Norma Lowe.
Friends will be received Monday, May 13, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at College Heights Baptist Church, 980 North Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035 with Pastor Darrell D. Deer officiating.
