Betty Joyce Presson
VERMILION – Betty Joyce Presson (nee Akers), 79, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after an 8 month illness.
Betty was born August 7, 1934 in McKenzie, TN. She had been a Vermilion resident for the past 53 years moving from Tennessee.
She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and a 25 year volunteer at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain. She had been past president of the Hospital Auxiliary and was the buyer for the gift shop.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles "Charlie" Presson of Vermilion; and her nieces, Madyln Carideo of Portland, OR, Laura Roth of Vermilion, Leisa Bowling of McKenzie, TN, Sherry Johnson and Judy Gaddy of Newman, GA, Jan Ditto and Jackie Campbell of Bristol, TN, Suzanne Mann of McKenzie, TN; nephew, Mike Morgan of McKenzie, TN and grand niece, Kristin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. and Ruby (nee Boyd) Akers; brother, Jack Akers and sister, Nell Akers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 11 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. The Reverend Chris Robinson will officiate.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the donor's favorite veterans organization.
