LORAIN - Maria "Conchita" (nee Solis) Carrion, age 86, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her children.|
Born on October 3, 1927, in Mexico, she came to Lorain in 1949 and has lived here ever since.
Her entire life, Maria was a homemaker that was very devoted to the well being of her family. In recent years, they affectionately called her "Cyber Granny" because of her passion for staying in touch with her children and siblings, all over the world, via email and Skype. Every morning after her daily prayers, she routinely spent time catching up on current events through the internet and also reading the updates of her family and friends on Facebook.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and the Senior Center at El Centro.
Maria is survived by her sons; Ben, of Irvine, Calif,, Alberto, Lynchburg, Va., Gabriel (Shar), of Lindale, Texas, and Martin (Lidia), Barcelona, Spain; her daughters, Maria Carrion, Lorain, Olivia (Paul) Harvey, Falmouth, Mass. and Isabel (Tomas) Pallens, of Lorain; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Leandro Solis and Antonio Solis; and her sister, Jesusa Solis, all of Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Solis and Saturnina Servin; her brothers, Alberto, Jose and Andres Solis; and her sisters, Dolores and Teresa Solis.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m.on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst.
Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave. Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
