AMHERST – Frances Sergent (nee: Hall), 71 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 16, 2014 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born September 15, 1942 in Prairie County, Kentucky. Frances came to Lorain in 1967, she had made her home in Amherst for the last nine years.
Frances cherished her role as a homemaker. She loved cooking, sewing and caring for her family. Her other greatest joy in life was attending church at West Ridge Baptist Church in Amherst to worship her Lord. Frances enjoyed the time she spent with her brothers and sisters in Christ and the sweet fellowship they had.
Frances leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of fifty-three years William Henry Sergent; her daughters and their husbands Tammy and Jeff Pauly, Sandra and Rodney Griffith; her grandchildren Christopher, Logan and Copelin Pauly, Henry and Stephanie Griffith; her brothers Nathan Hall of Arkansas, Ernest Hall of Illinois, James Hall of Tennessee and her sister Janice Vance of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Sophia Hall (nee: Caudill).
Friends may call Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Fraley, pastor of West Ridge Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
