AVON LAKE - Norbert C. Traxler, age 86, entered into rest Thursday, May 22, 2014.
He was born November 2, 1927, on a farm in Avon Lake, Ohio, and he was a life-long resident of Avon Lake.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Avon Lake, and a member of the Holy Name Society. A Master Welder by trade Norbert also delivered mail for the US Postal Service, and operated the family farm on Lear Road. He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 32 years of service. He was a charter member of Fr. Ragan Council-Avon Knights of Columbus, a proud supporter and leader of the Boy Scouts and Indian Guides as well as Lorain County 4-H. Hobbies included playing the harmonica, Sax, and clarinet, fishing, camping, RV-ing, travelling with family to 49 states and Canada, scouting, Indian Guides, 4-H, farming, raising and showing horses.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret J. (nee Straub); children, Timothy of Avon, Judy (Tim) Conn of Avon Lake, Thomas (Christine) of N. Ridgeville, Janet Klein of Avon Lake, Anne (James) Taylor of Avon Lake, and Robert of Avon Lake; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and siblings Mary Lou McClain, and Shirley Pappa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lucille (nee Nahm) Traxler; and siblings Albert, Eugene, and Eileen Bartoto.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, where closing prayers will be on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit Parish, Avon Lake.
Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Detroit Rd. Avon.
