Jerald Edwin Bolyard
SOUTH AMHERST – Jerald Edwin Bolyard, 77 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 1, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 17, 1937 in Bretz, West Virginia. Jerald was raised and lived in West Virginia until 1959 before moving to Amherst. He had made his home in South Amherst for the last fifty-six years.
Jerald was employed as a clean up man at Ford Motor Corporation for thirty years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst. His hobbies included fishing, bingo and attending the local town festivals. Jerald enjoyed taking short trips and attending auctions. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his son and his wife Scott Wesley and Lynn Bolyard of Bowling Green, Ohio, Rick and Debbie Bolyard of Galloway, Ohio, his daughter and her husband Judy and Robert Cordle of Wakeman; his grandchildren Cameron, Warren, Rebecca, Jeremy, Zachery and Bradley; his brothers and their wives Harold E. and Janet Bolyard of Vermilion, David and Mary Bolyard of Lorain, William and Dottie Bolyard of Wakeman; his sisters Joanne Ashby and her husband Bob of Omaha, Nebraska, Carma Lee Veron of Mt. Vernon, Elloise Smyth of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Linda McMillon of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-nine years Margie Faye Bolyard (nee: Curry) on May 15, 2010; and his parents Harold E. and Dorothy Bolyard (nee: Hartsell).
Friends may call Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jayson Samons, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
