AMHERST – John W. Kordeleski Sr., age 83, of Amherst passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.
He was born on January 6, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio to Walter and Katherine (nee Przybilski) Kordeleski. He attended St. Stanislaus School. John served in the United States Army from 1948 – 1950.
John was employed as a Stationary Engineer for Thew Shovel in Lorain for 28 years he then went on to work at Sears Department Store for 9 years and completed his career with Ohio Edison as a mechanic with 12 years of service.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved restoring cars, auctions and flea markets.
John is survived by his sons, David Kordeleski, of Vermilion and John (Kathy) Kordeleski, of Amherst; grandchildren, Heather (Shawn) Starr, Michael, Matthew and Annie Kordeleski; great-grandchildren, Roman, Keira, and Tristan Starr and Jason Kordeleski.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in 2012; brothers, Frank, Edward, and Michael; and his sisters, Violet, Stella and Florence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
