LORAIN - Leo Maurice Palmer, age 71, and a resident of Lorain, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 20, 2014.
Leo was born Sept.14, 1942, in New Ulm, Minnesota, where he was raised and then moved to Connecticut where he graduated from high school. He moved frequently including Denver, Colorado, prior to coming to Lorain in 1996.
He worked for Continental Airlines as a lead mechanic retiring in 2005 after 20 years of employment. He joined the membership of Family Fellowship Foursquare Church in 1997 and was involved as a small group leader and the Wednesday morning men's prayer group. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a "Mr Fix It"; he enjoyed tinkering and fixing things around his home as well as helping others with their problems. For recreation he enjoyed playing billiards with his friends on Friday nights.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of eighteen years, Rizca Palmer (nee: Espino); his daughters, Kitchie Sisi and Candice "Kutchie" (Jem) Gino-Gino both of Lorain; four grandchildren, Carla Sisi, Catrina Sisi, Calah Gino-Gino, and Cyane Gino-Gino; his sisters, Carol Crust of Brainard, Minn., Vern Ingrassia of Monroe, Conn., Janyce Dickerson of Southbury, Conn., and Ann Manzo of Barefoot Bay, Fla; his brother, John Palmer of Warner Robins, Georgia.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Justine (nee: Volz) Palmer.
Friends may call Monday and Tuesday, June 23 and 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 10 a.m., at the Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, 780 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, Ohio 44001. The Rev. Mark Giaimo will officiate.
