VERMILION - Doris W. James (nee Cartwright), 89, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

Born February 19, 1921 in Chattanooga, TN she had been a Vermilion resident for the past 44 years moving from Sandusky.
She retired after 26 years from Ford Motor Co., Lorain where she worked in the Data Processing department. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants.
Survivors include her daughter Merry "Connie" (Thomas) Hartle of Vermilion; sons, Bruce James of Huron, Stephen (Annette Fuller) James of Lorain, and Tony James of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas B. and Lennie J. (nee McFadden) Cartwright, daughter, Nona K. Smith, sons David and Frank James and a daughter-in-law, Louise James.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 4-6 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
Private Burial will take place at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
