Crystal Yvonne Cross
SANDUSKY - Crystal Yvonne Cross, 56, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Heartland Hospice in Fremont following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 25, 1954 in Sandusky where she was a life-long resident and attended the Perkins Local Schools in Sandusky . She was a graduate of Perkins High School where she was an honor student and a cheerleader, and later attended the Ohio Business College.
Crystal was employed by the Industrial Nut Company for the past 25 years where she was an office auditor. She also, along with Liz Hayes, operated an interior and banquet business call G.O.D. (Girls of Design).
She was a member of The Assembly of Jesus Christ where she was baptized at a young age under the leadership of the late Elder Ben Fitzpatrick. She was a gifted soloist and song leader in the church choir. She also taught Sunday school, directed the Children's Choir, an anointed praise dance instructor, and was part of the Assembly's Praise Team. Additionally, she has performed in plays as a singer, dancer and actress at the Karamu House Theater in Cleveland.
Crystal leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Y'Anna (John) Auzenne of Bossier City, Louisiana and Chastity (Dominick) Preyer of Kennesaw, Georgia; a son, Willie James "Jason" Jones III of Sandusky; her parents, Elder Johnnie W. and Evangelist Janet Cross of Sandusky; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite (the late Willie Steve) Irby of Sandusky; a brother, Johnnie W. (Annjeanette) Cross III; 4 grandchildren, Ljiraan Strachan, Caleb Strachan, Kaylea Auzenne, and Eyana Frierson; her church family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; and a grandson, Anthony Auzenne.
Visitation will be (tomorrow) May 25, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. until time of her homegoing service at 12:00 p.m. at The Assembly of Jesus Christ, 3510 Beatty Ave., Sandusky. Services to be officiated by her father and pastor, Elder Johnnie W. Cross Jr. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery and Memorial Park, Sandusky.
