Cleophus R. "Cleo" Tucker Obituary
Cleophus R. Tucker ("Cleo"), 78, passed away June 16, 2011 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
He was born January 28, 1933 in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. He was a longtime resident of Lorain, moving here in 1947. Following high school he served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. After fulfilling his military duties he returned to Lorain where he was founder of the Orchid Lounge, a bar which he owned for 45 years. He was also employed by Ford Motor Company where he worked in the maintenance department. After 30 years of service he retired in 1994 from Ford's Avon Lake plant and was a member of UAW Local 2000.
Cleo enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, and making homemade wine.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Debra Goodwin of Lorain, Mark A. Paris-Urban of Cleveland, Cheryl Butler of Oberlin and Carla Cunningham of Lorain; a sister, Dorothy T. Stephens of Lorain; 10 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and other loving relatives and friends.
Cleo was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Tucker Sr. and Courtney Tucker (nee McClendon); sisters, Lillie M. Daggs and Patsy Coleman; brothers, Joseph Tucker Jr., James Tucker, Woodrow Tucker, and Robert Lee Tucker.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon at Compassion Baptist Church, 520 W 22nd St., Lorain; Bishop Johnny L. Kelly, Pastor of Shepherds of Joshua New Beginning Church in Cleveland, to officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
