Raymond J. Cantelli
May 25, 1925-July 23, 2011
Raymond J. Cantelli, 86, residing at 1602 Milan Rd., Sandusky, OH, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2011 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Raymond was born in Sandusky, OH, and was a graduate of Sandusky High School. He worked with his father at a very young age at the family business, Cantelli Block and Brick, and he spent his whole life doing what he loved, which was making concrete blocks.
In addition to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, he was a life member of the Elks Lodge #285, the IAB Club, Ohio Concrete and Block Association, National Concrete Block Association, and the B.B.B. His hobbies included bowling for the Elks league, and playing Bocci and Mora at the old IAB Club, but his true love was his family. Raymond enjoyed his past hunting trips with his dad, traveling with his wife Adriana, of 56 years, and their children, and he loved hearing about his grandchildren's sports activities. He loved to laugh, he loved life, and he will be missed by many.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife Adriana Cantelli, whom he married on February 4, 1956; his children, Ray A. Cantelli, of Sandusky, Ron Q. (Leslie) Cantelli, of Sandusky, and Adriana (Greg) Teklitz, of Twinsburg, OH; grandchildren, Allen and Corinne Teklitz, and Quintin and Kennedy Cantelli; his sisters, Mary Macove, of Lorain, OH, Dorothy Winters, of Sandusky, and Anita Cantelli, of Sandusky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Quinto and Filomena (Vanucci) Cantelli; daughter in infancy, Paula Cantelli; granddaughter in infancy, Paula Teklitz; sisters, Sally Fantuz, Natalie Leffler, and Rose Chioromonte; brother, Paul Cantelli; and several other cherished family members.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all the staff at Firelands Regional Medical Center, especially Dr. Garmin, Dr. Hill, Dr. Strach, and Dr. Chaban, and all the nurses on the 4th floor ICU. All of the assistance and compassion during this difficult time was deeply appreciated.
