Ruth Howser Obituary

Ruth Gertrude Howser
ELYRIA TOWNSHIP - Ruth Gertrude Howser of Elyria Township passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness following surgery at the age of 75. Ruth was born in Lorain on February 26, 1937. She moved with her husband to Elyria Township in 1962.
Ruth was a bright light in our world and to her family. She deeply loved spending her time with her husband, children and grandchildren who all reside in the township near her home. A warm, wonderful sense of humor and beautiful kind smile would always welcome anyone who spent time with Ruth. She lived every day of her life by the Golden Rule.
Ruth enjoyed taking small vacations with her best friend and husband, Leonard (L.H.) and big vacations with her whole family. She enjoyed music, dancing, laughing, reading and attending events and activities that her kids and grandkids were a part of. She followed Cleveland Cavalier basketball and Indians baseball. Ruth enjoyed gambling occasionally and sharing her winnings with her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leonard; her children, Brenda Olive, Leonard Howser, and Elaine Seguin; and their spouses, Terry Olive, Judy Howser and Phil Seguin; her brother, John Johnson and sister Pearl Meyers; grandchildren, Sarah, Jenny, Holly, April, Nathan, Ruthie, and great grandchildren, Ty and Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rowena Johnson; sister, Martha; and brother, Robert.
A private service was held on Friday with her family. Pastor Arnold Fleagle of Trinity Evangelical Free Church officiated.

Fish listener. My prayers are with the family. I lost my parents while they were still "young" and miss them so much. But praise God, one day we will be reunited as you all will be as well. I pray that God touches you where it hurts the most and brings you peace.

Elaine, Sarah & family, so very sorry to hear about your loss. Ruth truly was a beautiful person, both inside & out. I'm happy to say that I had the chance to know her, even though it's been years since I've seen her. That's because her granddaughter, Sarah took over keeping her beautiful :) Thoughts & prayers to you & your families.

As teenagers, Ruth, Sylvia and I had so much fun together. We danced and laughed so much tears would come to our eyes. I saw her last year when I visited from California and we had just as much fun as when we were young. Her smile and humor always have been special to me. I will miss coming to see her next time I visit the area. Much love to her family. Sheila Kane
