Albert S. "Pat" Hamner, 86, of Vermilion, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Pat was born July 18, 1926 in Fisherville, TN, and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 54 years moving from TN.
He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II.
Pat worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as a layout inspector for 40 1/2 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion where he was active as a Sunday School Teacher and enjoyed working with the Awanas in the nursery. He enjoyed volunteering at Murray Ridge Support Group, camping, fishing, traveling, boating, and loved working on cars.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nadyne A (nee Randle) Hamner; sons, Albert R. Hamner of Amherst, Tad Wright of Memphis, TN, and Chris Wright of Vermilion; daughters, Sandra Kidd of Vermilion, Deborah (Mark) Dean of Vermilion and Elizabeth Hamner of Wellington; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ann Favazza of Knoxville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert R. Hamner and Ollie (nee James) Seward; first wife, Beulah Hamner in 1964; daughter, Kathleen Garrison; brother, Larry Seward; sister, Essie Anthony; and son in law, Kenneth Kidd.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 2:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Cliff Morris will be officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Murray Ridge Support Group, Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities Offices, 1091 Infirmary Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
