HURON - William M Bodde, 73, of Huron, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Firelands Regional Medical Center Main Campus after a sudden illness.
Bill was born May 14, 1939 in Lakewood. He had been a Huron resident for the past 11 years moving from Vermilion.
He graduated from the Ohio State University with a BS in Mathematics. Bill was the CEO of North Ridge Enterprises in Birmingham for 30 years.
He was a member of Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Plum Brook Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha (nee Harrison) Bodde of Huron; sons, Thomas (Faith) Bodde of Vermilion, David (Kelly) Bodde of Norwalk, and Bob (Amy) Bodde of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Jordan, David, Emerson, Halle, Michael and Bree Bodde; brothers, Bernard (Margaret) Bodde of Pinehurst, N.C., and Martin "Marty" (Karen) Bodde of Shippensburg, Pa.; sisters, Janet (Nick) Leano of Elyria, Martha Marriott of Ocala, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Anna (nee Zbin) Bodde.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 2 - 4 pm & 7 - 9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Ohio at Grand Street, Vermilion at 11:00 am. The Reverends Nick Cacciatore and John Hood will co- officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
The family suggests memorial contributions to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Foundation), 26 Broadway, New York, NY 10004 on behalf of his granddaughter, Halle.
