AMHERST - Robert C. Shauck, 80 of Amherst passed away on Tuesday evening, February 26 at the Eliza Jennings Home in Cleveland following a long illness.
Mr. Shauck was born in Marblehead on August 4, 1932, the son of the late Robert D. and Marie (nee Cowell) Shauck.
He graduated from Otterbein College in 1954 and began his career in teaching. His first teaching assignment was in the New Bremen School District. He transferred to the Lorain City School District and continued to teach until 1984. He was a junior high basketball coach. He was a 45 year member of the Carpenter's Union with a General Contractor's license. He maintained several rental properties and held a real estate license.
He was a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed trap shooting, boating, fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, model airplanes, playing cards, softball and basketball. He was a member of the N.R.A., the Amherst Sportsman Club and the Sportsman Gun and Reel.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara S. (nee Hanson) Shauck, daughters Cindy (Tim) Cole of Redstone, CO, Sandy (David) Feicht of Lakewood, sons Alan (Yolanda) Shauck, James R Shauck both of Lorain. grandchildren Chloe Shauck, Jacob Shauck and Scott Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ann Collins.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 10:00 am until service time at 11:30 am in the Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Leavitt Road, Amherst. The Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. will be officiated by Rev. Adrian Lloyd, pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service.
A private burial will be held on Friday.
