Richard L. "Little Richard" Quillen II Obituary
Richard L. "Little Richard" Quillen, II, 24 of Lorain passed away on Saturday morning, February 23, 2013 unexpectedly.
Richard was born in Amherst on November 3, 1988, the son of Ruth A. Dandrea and Richard L. Quillen, Sr, both of Lorain.
He was a medal winning member of the Lorain Middle School wrestling team.
He worked as a grounds person/tree climber at Perkins Tree Service in Sheffield Lake, helped his father and uncle in their family owned Hammerhead Roofing Co. He had also worked for the Thogus Products Co. with his mother.
He enjoyed biking, dirt biking, Summit Races, camping, bonfires, fishing, hiking, swimming, cooking, music, playing the guitar, and artwork (tattoos). He liked to draw and loved animals. He loved spending time with family and friends. He attended Broadway Assembly sometimes with his Grandma Beegle and Uncle John. He recently had been learning to make bracelets for family and friends. He tried to walk the path that Jesus set forth for us. He was always kind and helpful to everyone he met. He was a very lovable soul and well liked by many. He will be with us, forever and always.
In addition to his parents, Richard is survived by step mother Debra Gogan, step father Dale R. West, two sisters, Richell C. Quillen of Philadelphia, PA; Heather R. Quillen of Lorain, a step sister, Savanna M. of Clyde, two step brothers, Reed of Lorain, Tyler of Harrisburg, West Virginia, maternal grandmother Edith A. "Maggie" Beegle-Cavanaugh, step maternal grandmother Dreama F. West, paternal grandparents, James & Roxie Quillen, Sheffield Lake, 9 aunts, 8 uncles, 31 cousins, many second cousins and lots of extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Dale Thomas Dandrea, step maternal grandparents, Daniel West, Robert Beegle, step paternal grandfather Loyd McCartney and paternal uncle, Billy Joe Quillen.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 11:00 am until services at 3:00 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Matt Jones will officiate.
Burial will be private.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes, Northeast Ohio Chapter
