AMHERST - Gregory Allen Honeycutt, 34 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born April 21, 1978 in Amherst, Ohio. Greg was raised in Amherst, graduating from Amherst High School while attending Lorain County JVS in Oberlin.
Greg was employed for Drug Mart in Oberlin and Parma Heights as an assistant manager. Prior to his career with Drug Mart he owned and operated the Honeycutt General Store on Rt. 113 in South Amherst. Greg loved being around people and during the Amherst Jamboree he had operated a lemonade stand as well as many concession food booths at Jamie's Flea Market in South Amherst. Greg was a compassionate son who loved his family, especially caring for his parents.
Survivors include his parents Lester and Darlene Honeycutt (nee: Partin); his brother and his wife Lester, Jr. and Thomasine Honeycutt of Taylorsville, KY; his sisters Judy Uszak of Amherst; Jamie Ploskunak and her husband Chuck of Taylorsville, KY, Betty Butts and her husband Billy of Avon Lake; his niece and nephews Karli Ploskunak, Tyler Butts, Briar Honeycutt, Michael Uszak, and Jaxsen Honeycutt.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister in 1962.
Friends may call Monday, March 4, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Pemberton of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Stand for the Sielent; 6918 West 128th. Street, Perkins, OK 74059.
