Robert Paul Cuenin
Robert Paul Cuenin, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 14, 2013. He was born on December 26, 1923 in Lorain, Ohio, residing in Amherst, Vermilion and Norwalk.
Bob was a member of Milan Baptist Church in Milan, Ohio. He was their official greeter, welcoming everyone faithfully every Sunday morning. He operated Bob's Marathon on the corner of route #58 and route #113 in South Amherst, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and cars.
Bob served in the United States Army during World War II. During his service for his country he was responsible for operating a landing craft during the Battle of the Bulge.
Bob is survived by his wife Helene Cuenin(nee: Conn-Akers); son Eric (Paula), daughter's in law Lois Cuenin and Diane Jones; step daughters Sherry (Allen) Bohl, Sandra (Lindy) West, Sheila (Kenneth) Peachock, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sister Pauline Bodnar and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Clara Cuenin (nee: Ballant) on February 6, 1984, sons, Robert E. Cuenin on August 20, 2009 and Roy Cuenin on September 22, 2003, his parents Paul and Ebba Cuenin (nee: Ericson), sister Ilene McMair, twin sister Dorothy Cuenin and grandsons Robert Eric Cuenin, Jr. and Shane West.
Friends may call Friday, March 15, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. from the funeral home. The Pastor Rodney Hollan, of Milan Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Milan Baptist Church; 5199 Old State Road, Milan, OH 44846.
