John R. McConley Obituary
LORAIN - John R. McConley, 74, of Lorain, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at New Life Hospice Residential Center following a short illness.
He was born December 25, 1938 in Cleveland to the late John R. and Angeline (Durante) McConley. Mr. McConley was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, where he was an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. He also worked in the Church kitchen with spaghetti and pierogi dinners.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran, where he was a Crew Chief in the Motor Pool. He was employed at Ford Motor Company as a Supervisor, retiring in 1999.
Mr. McConley was a Brother Knight with Council #3269, Avon-Avon Lake. He was P.F.N. with the Knights of Columbus Assembly #811 Lt. Francis McManus, Avon. He once belonged to the Blue Knights/Golden Shield Motor Cycle Club, where he enjoyed many hours riding with friends through the country.
Boating was also a passion of his. He loved spending time with his 5 wonderful grand daughters, and many an afternoon fishing with his grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rita (Shullick) McConley; daughters, Michele (Scott) Babinsky of Amherst, Manda McConley of Lorain, and Anita (Scott) James of Oberlin; grandchildren, Angelena and Kerey Babinsky, Olivia, Grace, and Emma James, and J.P. Gregory.
Friends may call Monday, March 18, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1339 East Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Richard E. Hudak, Pastor will be the Celebrant. A reception will follow immediately after Mass in the Church Hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. "Al Di La"
