Obituary Condolences

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Jonathan Dworkin, 77, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. A resident of Cleveland until 2006, Dworkin was a graduate of Western Reserve Academy, Western Reserve University and Western Reserve University Law.
Dworkin began his career in public service, serving as Assistant Law Director of the City of Cleveland under Mayor Carl Stokes and actively campaigning for Louis Stokes' 1968 congressional campaign. He began arbitrating in the steel industry in 1971 and became a full-time labor arbitrator and mediator in 1976. When elected in 1979, he was among the youngest members of the prestigious National Academy of Arbitrators, of which he was a member for more than 30 years. As an arbitrator, Dworkin adjudicated cases in the public and private sector, serving on panels in the postal, mining, rubber, and countless other industries. His decisions were widely published and he loved teaching, being frequently called upon as a lecturer on matters of arbitration and labor relations and to mentor young arbitrators entering the field.
Dworkin is survived by his children Jennifer Vigran of Indianapolis, James Dworkin of Dallas, and Deborah Dworkin Thompson of Phoenix; siblings Jeremy Dworkin and Jeffrey Dworkin of Vermont, and Jill Talisman of Maryland; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your local free clinic or another .
