AMHERST - Charles "Dick" Richard Trottier, 84 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a sudden illness.
He was born April 19, 1929, in Cavalier, North Dakota. Dick had made his home in Amherst area for over fifty years.
He proudly served in the United States Navy. Dick was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Local 18 Operating Engineers. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and NASCAR. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his many friends.
Survivors include his wife of sixteen years Shirley Trottier (nee: Slack); his son Scott Trottier and his wife Judy of Amherst; his daughters Bonnie Meyer, Toni Nicklaus and her husband Ron all of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; step daughter Barb Dillon and her husband Brendan of Elyria, stepson Don Chutes and his wife Winnie of Plain City, Ohio, and her step daughter Susie Chutes of Elyria, ; grandchildren David Trottier, Stacey (Chris) Renaldo, Phil (Cassie) Golden, Aaron Golden, Danielle (Cody) Freemyer, Benjamin (Codie) Molnar, Casey White, Terceira Molnar, Chris White, R.J. (Megan) Nicklaus, Colt Nicklaus, Samantha Greenlee, Matthew Ruiz, Eamon Dillon, Marissa Greenlee, great grandchildren Krista, Taylor, Jennifer, Trevor, Casey, Austin, Gavin, Abel, Ella; and his brother Jack Trottier and his wife Joyce of Amherst, nephews; Alan, Jeff (Janine) Trottier.
He was preceded in death by his son Charles "Rick" Richard Trottier; daughter Pamela Trottier; brothers Louis, Norvill Trottier; sister Alice Crosby; and by his parents Joseph "Joe" and Pearl Trottier (nee: Bill).
Private services will be held for the family and friends at a later date.
