LORAIN - Cora J. (Moore) Mitcheff, 84, of Lorain, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 7, 2013.
Mrs. Mitcheff was born in Avon Lake on August 25, 1929, and had been a resident of Lorain since 1948.
Cora had been employed as a cashier for Finast Supermarkets; she retired in 1987 following 23 years of service with the grocer. She was a longtime member of United Food and Commercial Workers Local #880.
Mrs. Mitcheff was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1662 of Amherst and also served as a volunteer at the Lorain Senior Center. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additional interests included gardening and attending area bingo games.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George; daughters, Sandra (Edward) Dulemba of Amherst and Debra Dietrich of Lorain; son, Michael A. (Gladys) Mitcheff of Lorain; along with 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ethel (Hieleman) Moore; brothers, Henry, Edward, Harold, Paul, William, Earl, Howard and Robert; sisters, Ruth, Louise, Betty and Alma; and son-in-law, James Dietrich.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Louis Kayatin, Pastor of Church on the North Coast officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
