HURON – Ralph C. Pisano, 89, of Huron, died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born January 25, 1924, in Huron, and was a lifelong resident.
Ralph graduated from Huron High School in 1941, and was valedictorian of his class. He played basketball and football in high school, and summer baseball. He served in the U.S.
from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theater of Operations and was a Staff Sergeant.
Ralph attended The
Ohio State University
from 1941 to 1943, graduated from the University of Detroit in 1950, passed the Michigan State Bar in 1950 and the Ohio Bar in 1951, when he started practicing law. He started his own law practice in 1953 in Huron, and was the Huron Municipal Court Judge from 1992 to 1997. His son, Ralph joined his practice in 1990 until his passing in 2006. He received his Supreme Court certificate in 1998 for judgeship, service to Ohio.
Ralph enjoyed and was a member of many organizations including the Knights of Columbus, Huron Rotary, serving as president in 1963 and 1964, and was a 50-year member, receiving the Star Award for more than half a century, Huron Chamber of Commerce and received a special Chamber Award in 2012, and was Chamber Secretary from 1950 to 1960, Huron Amvets, Huron Eagles, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association, to name some of them. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and served as an usher starting in 1941. He enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, watching professional sports, playing cards, traveling and most of all, his family.
Ralph is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Lee) Bartlome and Margie Ann Gibbons, both of Milan; son, Larry (Mary) Pisano; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Pisano of Huron; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and close companion of 10 years, Hilda Barnett of Collins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie (Rocca) Pisano; son, Ralph Pisano Jr.; two granddaughters, Carolyn Lindenberger and Marjorie Lynn Pisano; sisters, Lily Majoy and Rosemary DeFazio; brother, Samuel Pisano; and his parents, Carmelo and Caroline (Lolla) Pisano.
Friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the St. Peter Catholic Church Gathering Space, 430 Main St., Huron, OH 44839. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. with Father Jeff McBeth officiating. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
In lieu of flowers contributions, may be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, St. Peter Catholic Church (see address above), the Huron Rescue Squad, 413 Main St., Huron, OH 44839, or in care of the family to offer a donation to Huron High School, in memory of Ralph C. Pisano.
