NORWALK - Dorothy Donaldson Ward died Saturday morning, February 8, 2014, at Norwalk Memorial Home, at the age of 88.|
She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Fitchville Township, the daughter of the late Roger and Marian (Sly) Luxon.
Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of New London High School and became a registered nurse after graduating from Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing in East Cleveland in 1946.
Dorothy was a member of the Clarksfield Seventh Day Adventist Church, the New London Grange, New London Historical Society, VFW Auxiliary #2743 of Norwalk, and the Alumni Association of Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing. She was an accomplished musician who was well known in the area for playing piano duets with her sister Marjorie. She also enjoyed gardening and genealogy.
Dorothy is survived by her son, John R. (Cindy) Hooker; and grandson, Thomas (Missy) Hooker.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Richard J. Hooker, John R. Donaldson and Lee J. Ward; brothers, Robert and Dale Luxon; and sisters, Marjorie Kirkpatrick and Norma Shull.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Visitation will start that morning at 10 a.m. Pastor Russ Gaskill and Jeff Luxon will co-officiate and burial will follow in the Fitchville Cemetery.
