I am very saddened to hear that Peggy has passed. I always enjoyed our visits of tea and family stories. My father is rather upset and sends his condolences. Walter (Pekarek) Sommerville is Peggy's cousin.

I was sorry to hear that Peggy is gone. She and my mother, Virginia Higgins-Gerbick, were great friends at Lorain High. As a child, I remember visiting with Peggy in Lorain. She was a very nice, smart lady. She will be missed.
This is a photo of Peggy Gillmore at the "Amherst spring" in the summer of 1941. My mother, Virginia Higgins-Gerbick, and Ashley are behind her.

To Peggy's Family . . .
For 10 of Peggy's 50 years at the Journal, my desk was alongside hers. And during that time, I got to know this fiercely private, proud lady, a consummate professional who became more than a co-worker, but also a confidant and friend. Just recently, and after all these years, I was able to contact her (through a mutual friend) hoping to arrange a meeting, when I learned of her passing, so it came as a shock.
Please accept my sympathy for your loss. Rest in peace, Peg. Rest in peace.

We are sorry to hear of Peggy's passing away. I always enjoyed talking to her about the history of her family and Charleston Village. She loved her home and her neighborhood and her heritage. She will be missed. Hopefully one day her family name will achieve further recognition-it was her dream and desire. Our sympathy to her family, Renee and Phil Dore
