Emil F. Ganobsek Jr.,
LORAIN - Emil F. Ganobsek Jr., age 82, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Five Star Assisted Living in Avon Lake after a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 10, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio to Emil and Agnes (nee

Banacke) Ganobsek and was a 1949 graduate of Lorain High School.
Emil enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 5, 1951 and held the rank of Airman First Class. While serving he received the Occupation Medal, (Germany), National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 4, 1955.
He was employed as a mechanic with Nelson Stud Welding Division for 40 years. He loved photography and would develop his own photos. He also enjoyed reading and studying all about herbs.
Emil is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Ron) Deka, of Medina and Janine (Richard) Simonsis, of Oak Forest, Illinois; grandchildren, Reed and Alexa Simonis and Alison Deka; brother, Richard (Lynn) Ganobsek, of Fruitland, Florida; sisters, Elaine Rock, of Lorain, Janette Ganobsek, of Lorain, Roseleen Priesler, of Parma and Diane Trebonik, of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Agnes Ganobsek, brothers, Eugene, Dennis, and Gregory Ganobsek; sisters, Mary Louise Lynch and Kathleen Ganobsek.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake where Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Stephen Shields, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
