Robert A. Whaley
LORAIN – Robert A. Whaley, 71, of Lorain, passed away, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a sudden illness.
Born April 26, 1942 in Detroit, he moved to New London, Ohio in 1950 and lived there until moving to Lorain in 1954. He served in the US Army at Fort Hood, Texas with the 92nd Artillery 2nd Armed Division in the early 1960's.
Robert worked as a mechanic for Rex Buckeye in Cleveland for 7 years. Prior to this he worked as a mechanic for U-Haul in Elyria for 18 years. He had also worked at Lorain Works US Steel and Minute Man Muffler, having managed three different locations.
He enjoyed computers and working on all types of engines from lawn mowers to automobile.
Surviving is his wife, Sherry; daughters JoiAnn (Angel) Sanchez of Lorain, and Justine (Samuel) Hellard of Elyria; a son, Michael Whaley of Lorain; a step son, Paul Kimmel of Lorain; and a step daughter, Leanna (Woody) McGuire of Lorain; 10 grandchildren; brothers Kim Whaley and James Whaley both of Elyria; and sisters, Debbie Tollson, of Westland, MI and Joy Rademacher, of Lake Orion, MI .
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Whaley (nee Lomas) in 1999; his father, William Whaley; and brothers, Donald Whaley and Thomas Whaley.
The Whaley family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Copper Foster Park Road, Amherst .Rev. Robert Wickens, of Church of the Open Door, will officiate. Military Honors will follow.
