1927 - 2010 Obituary Condolences
Clarence Junior Gassman, age 83, of Harrison passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at the Gratiot Medical Center in Alma.

He was born the son of Francis W. and Dolly M. (Bowles) Gassman on February 27, 1927 in Owosso.

Mr. Gassman honorably fought for our freedoms by serving in the United States Navy during World War II.

On August 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Janet Pauline (Gleason) Gassman. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2009.

Mr. Gassman held a license in real estate for many years, and was also co-owner of the Gleason-Gassman Insurance Agency for 30 years. He had also worked for Midland Dow Chemical for 35 years.

Clarence was an avid member of the Harrison John J. Carton Masonic Lodge #436 and the Harrison American Legion Post #404. He spent many years in property management, and enjoyed refinishing antique automobiles. His greatest times were spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Pamella) Gassman of St. Johns; daughters, Pamela (Robert) Rzepecki of Mt. Pleasant, Connie (Max) Saxton and Annette (Brad) Boulton all of Harrison; his sisters: Mabel (Bernard) Thompson of Westland, Alice Neifert of Bradenton, Florida, and Doris Barber of Muskegon.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Sara and Kristen Rzepecki, Andrew (Elly) Saxton, Matthew Saxton, Kyle Gassman, Alisha Gassman, Brent Boulton, Laura Boulton, Anaca Boulton; two great-granddaughters: Jaclyn and Hazel and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Francis and a half-sister, Mary Carlton.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home with Pastor James Young officiating. Burial will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrison.

Visitation will begin on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 3 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be considered to: Mid-Michigan Home Health Care or to First Congregational Church.
