Hazel Fern Deckard, 82, of Cherokee, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg, KS.
She was born March 13, 1936, at Cherokee, KS, the daughter of Lewis F. and Bessie Jane (Oliver) Minor.
On June 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Deckard in Bentonville, AR. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2009.
Mrs. Deckard was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee, KS.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Deckard of Cherokee, KS, and Keith Deckard of Cherokee, KS, one daughter, Carol Hohl of Pittsburg, KS, two brothers, Wayne Minor and Lawrence Minor of Portland, OR; a niece, Mary Jameson of Wichita, KS; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
A service for Mrs. Deckard will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 7, 2018, at Brenner Mortuary Chapel, Pittsburg, KS, with Rev. Ben Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Elm Cemetery, Columbus, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church, Cherokee, KS. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
