Walters, Calvin - Frontenac  
Calvin Richard Walters, 66, of Frontenac, Kansas, formerly of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Arma Health and Rehab. He was born October 25, 1949 at Miami, Oklahoma to John C. and Doris M. (Tune) Walters. He graduated from Miami High School. On May 20, 1968 he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War. He served in the VF213 Fighter Squadron on the USS Kitty Hawk at Miramar, California. Following an honorable discharge on February 18, 1972, he entered the US Naval Reserve at Bainbridge, Maryland where he was a structural mechanic, until he was honorably discharged on May 13, 1974. On April 14, 1973, he was united in marriage to Alice M. Munn at Pittsburg, KS. The lived in Miami, OK, Commerce, OK, Mansfield, TX, and Frisco, TX before moving to Frontenac in 2005. He worked for B.F. Goodrich at Miami, Oklahoma from 1973 until 1989. He then worked for Old Dominion Freight Line of Parsons, Kansas as an over the road truck driver for 22 years, retiring in 2012. Mr. Walters was a member of the United Rubber Workers from 1973 – 1989. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife, Alice of the home, he is survived by a son, Gerald "Jerry" Walters and daughter-in-law, Meletha of Frisco, TX; a daughter, Heather M. Weathers and her husband, Norman of Katy, TX; four granddaughters, Laren Walters of Frisco, TX, Madilynn Weathers, Emily Weathers, and Felicity Weathers all of Katy, TX; a sister, Jillane Ong of Oklahoma City, OK; and a brother, Travis Walters of Tecumseh, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Walters, and a brother, Johnnie Lee Walters. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday (June 27) at the Brenner Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, where the US Navy Funeral Detail will provide graveside military rites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
