PITTSURG, KS – Frank Lee Cronister, 76 of Pittsburg, KS died at 8:45 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at his home of a long illness.
He was born December 26, 1935 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Cormick and Mary Cerne Cronister. He had been a life long resident of Pittsburg, KS and attended St. Mary's High School, graduating with the class of 1956.
Frank served in the Army
Reserve from 1955 to 1963 attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He married Janis L. Kennett on October 26, 1957 in Pittsburg, KS and she survives at the home in Pittsburg, KS.
Mr. Cronister was an Auto Body Repairman with Vietti Auto Body in Pittsburg for 20 years; a small engine repairman with Bob's Lawn Mower Service Pittsburg for 12 years; and worked for USD 250 in Pittsburg for 15 years retiring at the age of 64 as the Head of Maintenance.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge
both in Pittsburg, KS.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons Kenneth Cronister and his wife Annette of Pittsburg, David Cronister of Pratt, KS, four sisters Sharon Henderson of Pittsburg, Theresa Davis and her husband Gene of Lamar, MO, Linda Willis of Pittsburg, and JoAnn Spitzengal and her husband Bruce of Sugar Land, TX, two brothers Patrick Cronister of Pittsburg and Robert Cronister and his wife Elaine of Mulberry, KS, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lawrence Leo Cronister and James Joseph Cronister and one sister Mary Elizabeth Humble.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Friday, October 4, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS with Father Robert McElwee, as celebrant.
The soloist will be Buddy Gorentz and the organist will be Sharon Barone. Pallbearers will be Bob Kennett, Dale Rice, Kyle Sayre, Scott Crain, Larry Barrett, and Gary Milleman. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS. The parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S Broadway in Pittsburg, KS. The family will receive friends after the rosary service at the funeral home. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund or Hospice Compassus.
