FRONTENAC - Jackie L. Stringfellow, 83, of Frontenac, Kan., died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Medicalodge of Pittsburg, Kan.
Mr. Stringfellow was born Aug. 30, 1930, at Mineral Wells, Texas, the son of Jack and Tiny Kirby Stringfellow. Jackie was retired from Castlegate in Pittsburg. He lived in Wichita prior to moving to the Pittsburg area in 1978. He was raised in Texas and attended Texas schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict
and retired as a staff sergeant after 15 years. He married Edyie Morgan on July 15, 1977, at Newkirk, Okla. Mrs. Stringfellow survives at the home. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 at Pittsburg and the VFW
Post #1158 at Pittsburg. Survivors include his wife, Edyie, of the home; two sons, Dr. Lee Stringfellow Jr. of Carrollton, Ga., and Gene Tingley of Mulberry; two daughters, Carolyn Sellars of Albany, Ga., and Kim (Brian) Long of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Ann Snow of Dallas, Texas, Vinita Halbrooks of Dallas, Texas, and Sally Hulsey of Dallas, Texas; and two grandsons, Jarod (Hannah) Tingley of Iola, Kan., and Josh Tingley of Pittsburg, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Barry Tingley; a sister, Janie Ingram; a brother, George Stringfellow; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Flossie Morgan.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery with Eddie King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday. The family suggests memorials to the Southeast Kansas Humane Society. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.
