Ladine Menchetti of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 following a lengthy illness. She was a member of Country Club United Methodist Church and the F.E. Chapter of P.E.O. She attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Mostly, Ladine was a proud and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16th in the library of Country Club United Methodist Church, 400 West 57th Street, Kansas City, Missouri. A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19th at Richland Cemetery outside Richards, Vernon County, Missouri, near the family farm.
Born Norma Ladine Wilmot, on May 25, 1927, at St. Luke's Hospital, Ladine was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ladine Wilmot of Richards, and her brothers John Walton and Fred. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Robert Menchetti; her son, Louis D. Steele, his wife Rachael, and their daughters, Elizabeth and Julie; her daughter, Linda Steele Crowe and her children, John and Kelly; her step-daughter Missi Menchetti Camp and husband David; her step-son Paul Menchetti, his wife Terri, and their daughters, Stephanie, Samantha, and Brooklyn; and her former husband Louis M. Steele and his wife Polly. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
In addition, Ladine loved anything the color blue and pink peonies. She collected owls, had an eye for decorating, a love of cooking and good food, a sense of style, and fancied the expression, "Well, good night!" She will be dearly missed but will remain in our hearts forever.
The family extends its gratitude to all who provided loving care for Ladine including Creative Care Consultants, A New Day at Home/Sunflower House, Good Shepherd Hospice, and most especially, her longtime friend Donna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Country Club United Methodist Church or the National Parkinson's Foundation Heartland.
