DALLAS, TEXAS – Lawrence H. Gentry Jr., 74, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Pittsburg, died Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Dallas, Texas.
He was born July 22, 1939 in Pittsburg the son of Lawrence H. and Angela J. Blazic Gentry. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1961 with a BS Degree in Physics and was active in the Army
ROTC Department. He had been a resident of the Dallas and Garland, Texas area for 30 years.
Mr. Gentry was a Vietnam era veteran, serving in the US Army Intelligence Agency on active duty for six years and later in the Army reserve.
He was a computer programmer for Alcatel in Dallas, Texas until his retirement.
Membership was held in the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity while attending Pittsburg State University.
Survivors include one sister Vicki Gentry of Pittsburg, KS and many cousins.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Thursday at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories with Dennis Johnson officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post #64 of Pittsburg, KS. Friends may call at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S.
