ARMA - Lois Radford Stroud Napier, 76, of Arma, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kan. Mrs. Napier had been in ill health the past 10 months.
Lois was born Feb. 27, 1937, at Mulberry, Kan., the daughter of Glen and Edith Akins Radford. She was raised in rural Mulberry and graduated from Mulberry High School in three years. Lois worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Reagan's Department Store, the IGA, and Pallucca's Grocery. She loved country and religious music and also enjoyed watching family videos, RFDTV, and playing her organ. She married Bill Stroud and they had three children and divorced after 20 years of marriage. She later married Vernon Napier and they later divorced. She was a member of the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her former husband, Vernon Napier of rural Mulberry; children, Carolyn Wood (David Saia) of Arma, Bill (Penny) Stroud) of Delavan, Wisc., Dale (Robbie) Stroud of Webb City, Mo.; grandchildren, Brandy (Matt) Kraus of Lake in the Hills, Ill., Travis (Liz) Wood of Aram, Amber (Benny) Jared, Olney, Ill., Amanda Stroud (Josh Conley), Olney, Ill, Billie Jean (Scott) Baker of Noble, Ill, Emily (Brett) O'Donnell, Lenexa, Brad (Sherry) Stroud of Frontenac, and Samantha (Ike) Wortman of Anderson, Mo.; great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Derek Kraus, Kaylee & Bentley Jared, Wilson and Layla Conley, Isaac and Hazel Baker, Caitlyn and Conor O'Donnell, Peyton and Alivia Stroud, and Bryar Wortman; sisters, Evelyn (Chuck) Gentile of Ozark, Mo., May (Leander) Gottwalt of Moline, Ill., and Jean Sumpter of Kansas City, Kan.; brother-in-laws, Archie Wyatt of Olney, Ill., and Bob Alexander of Kansas City, Kan.; special friend Margie Rhodes; special niece, Amelia Ann Casino; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Bill Stroud; son-in-law Quincy E. Wood; brothers Glen (Nedra) Radford, Bill (Maravene) Radford; sisters Lepha (Jack) Allan, Reba (Dan) Stwalley, June (Don) Hamilton, Mary Wyatt, Shirley (Ed) DeMaire and Donna Alexander; brother-in-law Bill Sumpter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. Jamie Tickle officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel in Arma. The family will be at the home of Carolyn Wood, 903 E. 630th Ave. in Arma.
