Robert Howard Busse from Lakewood, California passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on September 15, 1930 in Girard, Kansas to father, Antone Busse and mother, Nina (Hendrickson) Busse. He had two brothers – Tony and Ronald, and two sisters – Virginia and Effie.
Robert grew up in the coal mining community of Camp 50, Kansas. He graduated from Arma High School in 1947. He had found memories of his childhood including the close love of his family including Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends who lived nearby. Robert attended the Methodist Church of Girard when he was young and later the Catholic Church.
In 1954 he moved to Downey, California and worked for the Chrysler Corporation and later for Shell Oil Refinery, where he retired after 35 years.
Robert met his wife Patricia Stahl and they married on May 28, 1960 in Girard Kansas at St. Michaels Catholic Church. They had two daughters, Lori Jean (Busse) Wood and Diane Michele (Busse) Nichols.
Robert loved being in the outdoors. He especially loved fishing in rivers, lakes, streams and the ocean and taught both of his daughters how to fish. He took his family on many road-trips visiting endless national parks throughout the US. Robert never lost his love for Kansas. Every summer vacation included a long visit with his parents in his hometown. He also loved sports, especially Baseball, Football and Basketball. Robert was a lover of animals, especially dogs, throughout his entire life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia, of the home; daughter's Lori (Mark) Wood, Diane (Eric) Nichols; grandson's: Andy, Jonathan & Robert Wood and Daniel Nichols; brother Ronald Busse and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was held on November 4, 2013 at St. Pancratius Church in Lakewood, California, with Military Honors for his service in the Army Reserves during the Korean War
. Burial took place at Forest Lawn, Long Beach, CA.
