Roscoe C. Hurlbert(1924 - 2014)

Roscoe C. Hurlbert, 89, of Pittsburg, passed away at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Medicalodge South in Pittsburg, KS.

He was born November 6, 1924 at Cherokee, KS, to Benjamin and Clara (Ulmer) Hulbert. On May 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Edith Marie (Norris) Hurlbert. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2012.

Mr. Hurlbert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He worked for McNally's Manufacturing in Pittsburg, KS.

Mr. Hurlbert was a member of the Wesley House and the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post NO. 64 of Pittsburg.

He is survived by two sons, Larry ""Bubba"" Hurlbert and partner, David Santee of Green Lake, Wisconsin and Mike Hurlbert and his wife, Tami of Pittsburg, KS; two daughters, Christie Doughty of Opolis, and Barbara Clifton of Joplin, MO; two brothers, Gordon Hurlbert of Walford, IA, and Cecil Hurlbert of Waco, MO; two sisters, Cora Ulmer of Waco, MO, and Barbara McCorkle of Waco, TX; Ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter, Marla J. Hurlbert, a granddaughter, Chrystal Marie Doughty, four brothers Rolla Hurlbert, Gary Hurlbert, Carl Hurlbert and Lawrence Hurlbert, two sisters Bessie Mizner and Pauline Smith.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday (Feb. 10) at Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Ellie Foster officiating. The Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post NO. 64 of Pittsburg will provide military rites at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery, southeast of Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday (Feb 9) at the Brenner Mortuary. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
