Edward Burdette Fryer Obituary
Edward Burdette Fryer, 79, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed into Heaven Saturday, July 27, 2013, in the presence of his family at Coral Trace Rehabilitation Center in Cape Coral, Fla. He was born at St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago, Ind., on May 18, 1934, to John and Elizabeth Fryer. When he turned 18, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served faithfully and was honorably discharged after 30 years. During his service in the Marine Corps, he had the opportunity of serving in many countries and his many tours took him around the globe including two deployments to Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star medal for heroic service.
He was a member of Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post 64, the Marine Corp League, Joplin, Mo., as well as the Independent Bible Baptist Church in Pittsburg.
He is survived by three children, James Fryer, Pittsburg, Lisa Bush, Nashville, Tenn., and Michelle Austerman, Cape Coral, Fla.; his sister Marilyn, Columbus, Ind.; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, his son Brian Eugene, both his parents, a sister and a brother.
Memorial services will be held at the Independent Bible Baptist Church, 2202 N. Michigan in Pittsburg, at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. His remains will be buried next to his son and wife in Lehigh Acres, Fla, on Aug. 28.
