Jeannine Elizabeth Seal, 85, of Fort Scott, Kansas passed away early Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born October 25, 1928 the daughter of Clarence and Amy Irene (McNulty) Turner. She married Roy T. Seal August 19, 1951 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death January 7, 1990.
Mrs. Seal was a retired school teacher. She taught in Pleasanton, Kansas, Parsons, Kansas, and was a substitute teacher in the Fort Scott schools for 25 years.
Mrs. Seal had been a vocalist at the Methodist church from the age of twelve until she began teaching. She had been a member of the Treble Clef Club of Pittsburg, Kansas and Music Study Club of Fort Scott. She was an avid reader and traveled most of Central and Southeast Kansas giving book reviews. She was also an Associate Member of the Pink Ladies of Mercy from its very first days.
Mrs. Seal was a Past Mother Advisor of Rainbow for Girls, Den Mother Fort Scott Troop 41, Grand Cross of Colors, Order of the Rose Exemplar Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, Chi Chapter Sigma Sigma Sigma (PSU), and Past President of Sigma Sigma Sigma Alumni Chapter. She was also a life member of United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Fort Scott, and a member and Chairman of Fort Scott Methodist Prayer Chain for over fifty years. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Pittsburg and Fort Scott, First United Methodist Women Miriam Circle and the Fort Scott Red Hat Ladies of Oz.
Mrs. Seal is survived by her children, John Turner Seal and wife Nancy of Pittsburg, Kansas, Amy Seal Perry of Fort Scott; six grandchildren, Jason Seal and wife Katie, Amanda Seal, Rachel Seal, Ryan Porter, and Kyle and Mia Perry; five great-grandchildren, Brett, Bailey and Ben Seal, Keyleigh and Ava Porter; two cousins, Joanne Coulter, and Richard Anderson; several nieces and nephews, and her loving Care Givers, Faith Varner and Nissa Davenport. Her grandchildren were the rays of sunshine on any day.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening February 12, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with Memorial Service following at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jared Witt. Graveside services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the USD 250 Tennis Complex and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
