Frank Zagar, 95, of rural Girard, Kansas died at 12:20 P.M. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Via Christi Hospital at Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mr. Zagar was born February 19, 1923 at rural Girard, Kansas on the family farm the son of John and Mary Terlip Zagar. Frank was a farmer and raised and sold registered Black Angus cattle. He lived on the family farm all his life. He attended Dunkirk Schools. He was a successful boxer while he was in the Army and was known at the Farm Boy from Kansas, he loved to farm, and was a self-proclaimed Oliver tractor nut. He married Eris Marie Darigo on December 27, 1950 at Fleming, Kansas. Mrs. Zagar preceded him in death September 30, 2012. He was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, the American Angus Association, the Kansas Angus Association, Fourstate Angus Association, the Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion at Arma, and the S.N.P.J. Lodge #225 at Arma. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include a daughter, Eris Ann Zagar of Columbia, Missouri, and four nieces and nephews, Shirley Mercer, John Gene Zagar, Joann Grotheer, and John Charles Renn, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eris, three sisters, Mary Zagar, Josephine Renn, and Ann Howell, and two brothers, John and Joe Zagar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kansas with Father Jerome Spexarth as the celebrant. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas. Rosary will be said at 6 P.M. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel. Gravesides flag folding services will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Burial Detail. The family suggests memorials to Angels Among Us. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
