Karry Eugene Pitts Obituary
Karry Eugene Pitts, 66, of Galena, Kansas passed away on August 20, 2018 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Missouri following a long illness. He was born on August 15, 1952 to the Marriage of Joseph Ray Pitts and Joan Ellen Proctor in Pittsburg, Kansas. Karry enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam in the Signal Corp from 1971-1973 and the Army National Guard until 1977.

Karry was united in Marriage to Coletta Mae Lowe in Mulberry, Kansas on March 15, 1974. He was a wonderful father of two and enjoyed five grandchildren. He cherished his family and his secret chicken recipe-- the whole family took an took an oath, so don't even ask. Being a dependable hard worker was a source of pride for Karry and a virtue that he passed down to his family. He started working for his mentor Phil Morgan at the Mulberry Service Station when he was just a kid. He worked for a soda-pop and candy bar, but the knowledge and friendship he gained working under Morgan was invaluable. After returning from Vietnam he worked for Bill's Coal Company until they closed in 1985 and celebrated retirement from ACME Brick in Weir, KS.

He sang silly made up songs in the mornings, whistled while he worked, and always took the scenic route home. But it wasn't all fun and games, he also taught his family to ponder more serious matters. For instance, are a simple pair of eyeglasses really powerful enough to disguise the identity of Superman? He was always first in line for shenanigans like filling the basement with "pet" bullfrogs, inquiring about leashes for the crickets at the pet store, or dying the family dog green.

His family finds comfort that he is once again reunited with his wife Coletta, the love of his life whom he missed dearly. His will be deeply missed by his Daughter, Carrin Pitts Ketchum and her husband Tim, and grandchildren Sarah and Logan of Linn Creek MO; Son, Nicholas Pitts and his wife Ona and grandchildren, Devynn, Raegan, and Kason of Baxter Springs KS, and many siblings and extended family and friends.

He is survived by one sister, JoEllen Russell, five brothers Garry Pitts, Larry Pitts, Jerry Pitts, Terry Pitts, and Perry Pitts. He was preceded in death by his wife Coletta, parents, and a brother, Barry Pitts.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry KS on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 3:30 and following the service at the Mulberry Senior Center. Memorial donations can be made to The Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to 921 East 32nd Street Baxter Springs, Ks 66713.
