Richard L. Brill Obituary
Richard L. Brill, 69, of Pittsburg, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born July 25, 1944 at Pittsburg, KS, the son of Thomas and Lena (Paulain) Brill. Richard graduated from Arma High School in 1963.
On July 15, 1966, he was united in marriage to Carol Sue Antonetti at The United Methodist Church in Arma, KS. They later divorced.
From 1964 to 1971 he was enlisted in Army National Guard and then from 1971 to 2004 he was enlisted in the Army Reserves. In 1991 he was added to active duty in support of Operation Desert Storm.
Richard worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 years in Pittsburg and Kansas City retiring in 1997. After retirement he worked part-time for Names and Numbers and for S.E.K.-Cap in transportation.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed the quest of finding rare and unique antiques at local flea markets, auctions, and rummage sales. He also enjoyed spending his time at the casino, drinking daily coffee with his friends, and supporting his grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Misti Janssen and her husband Bryan of Pittsburg, KS; a son, Brandon Brill and his wife Angie of Pittsburg, KS; four grandchildren, Ashton Janssen, Cameron Janssen, Emma Brill and Olivia Brill; three nieces, Rhonda Brill of Topeka, KS, Jovanna Brackett-Oetinger of Pittsburg, KS, Julee Rhodes of Tulsa, OK, and two nephews, Randy Brill of Pittsburg, KS and Kris Antonetti of Lawrence, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Raymond Brill and Marcel Brill, and a lifelong friend Sandy Hohenwalde.
Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday (August 21) at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Reverend Wes Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Angels Among Us and/or Grandchildren's Scholarship Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
